Biggest kick in the teeth this year, not getting to see Tool a couple of months ago.

Best thing that happened today (and the only thing) bought tickets to see them in November when they uncharactistically hit Scotland again for the second time in a year.

Sure I'll be going by myself (somehow) and just spent £30 I really don't have, but at the moment couldn't care less. I'm going to see Tool again!!

My head is spinning. After months and months of trying to solidfy some writing projects I've decided to go in a completely different direction and write my own version of a famous folklore/mythological story.

Of course now I am neck deep in information and events, daunted by the task of making it all hang together. Purposely I will be missing out bits and pieces, leaving them for standalone tales and spin off stories.

The rest will start at a point often not considered and run after the story usually finishes.

A little vague at the moment, but it is something everyone is familar with and has been done before.

As it stands I am going to be going a "vertigo" type route with things and grabbing bits and pieces for reality, mthylogy and various sources. Lots of research and liberties with the story and characters.

Lots of fleshing out half characters and cutting back on others.

It's a big project that I might not ever finish. But still enjoying the research and the subject matter which is a start.

The End of An Era [Jul. 28th, 2006|04:29 pm]
Chris B

In 5 hours time the final two episodes of the West Wing will air in the UK.

7 years is a long time to be invested in a show as deeply as I have been (give or take the shakey 5th season) and it's going to be tough to let these character go...especially since over the last two years I would have been willing to see the show carry on with either Alda or Smitts in office.

Many feel it's overstayed its welcome, personally I'd have prefered it to carry on and show more of the start of an administration....but tonight, the end.

Ah well, I might watch it live and raise a glass to one of my favourite shows of all time.

Roll on Studio 60.

Dear Ebay,

I suggest we take a break from each another. It's not you it's me.

Nah, it's mostly you.

I'm broke sure, but also the last two items I've bought through you haven't turned out for the best. Postal insurance not added despite being paid for and incorrect description of items (and condition).

Now I know it's not your fault and we've had good times, but I think it'd be better if we called a hault to it for awhile. Maybe we'll get together again once things calm down a little, the goodtimes outweighed the bad times and if we can rekindle that relationship again then I don't see why we shouldn't give it another chance.

Keep safe, I'll see you again sometime...I'll maybe drop in from time to time to see how life is treating you.

Bastards. They said they were finally showing N.Y.P.D. Blue seasons 10,11 and 12 one after the other on the greatest channel ever (More4). After 10 and 11 they just said 12 will be on in October.

Ah well at least it prolongs the "no more NY" feeling.

My local supermarket didn't have a copy (I had a feeling they wouldn't, but I had to try) however Greg Graffin's new solo album "Cold as the Clay" can be heard over at his Myspace page.

Can't wait to grab a copy of this later in the week. Stunning stuff.

You know what else I hate?

When someone else is sniping an auction you are sniping (manually I must add) and they force you up an extra £3 (especially when you are actually bothering with insurance on it).

Still, very rare book for around half the price it usually is on Ebay.

(The Eight Doctors, first 8th Doctor book....kinda, first in the BBC range anyway)

You know what really pisses me off?

People who don't know how to use Ebay properly.

There is a full hour to go on the item....stop fucking bidding, all you are doing is pushing the price up. Hold off and wait you bastards.

I want that book....

The Futuri-Plex's annual "Favourite Doctor Who Episode of the Year" poll is now open.

Will Steven Moffat make it as the writer of the favourite episode for the second year running (the Doctor Dances being the clear winner last year and The Girl In The Fireplace being the favourite to take the prize this year)?

Will one of the two parters sneak a victory?

Will the experimental love it/hate it episode Love And Monsters come out on top?

Head on over to the Futuri-Plex to find out (and vote if you are/become a member).

Doctor Who Icons [Jul. 9th, 2006|07:49 pm]

A batch of Doomsday icons, with some spoilers (to an extent).

I'm never happy with putting words on my stuff so the majority of these are text-less. Feel free to add to them, but please credit.

Also I got a little lazy on recolouring, but then again sometimes it's best to leave things untouched (though a few have some touch ups, blurs, colours and the like).

Be sure to:

*and not hotlink.

This is my first mass public demonstration of my pitiful icon abilities so feel free to be critical (although don't all rush to say some of the images are a little small).

IconsCollapse )

Long story but we got a new TV yesterday in the living room (the third in a few weeks, as I say.....long story).

Despite it being a CRT (the last being LCD) I love this thing so much. 32 inches of pure pleasure.

Thing is, we got a free surround system with it, which I just this moment needed to check. Cue the S1 boxset of the current Doctor Who and the opening few minutes/music of Rose.

Oh my.

Just oh my.

Doubt I'll get the room to watch the finale tomorrow, but I'll sure as hell try (unfortunately my folks are behind with this years stuff so they wont be able to watch it).

And yeah, this was relatively random.
